She has been a teacher and a librarian, worked as a freelance researcher for local history projects plus a writer, a parent and, more recently, a grannie. She grew up in Edinburgh but spent many years in London, mostly trying to get back to Scotland, where she now lives in a small town on the Firth of Forth.
