My interests are fiction and narrative non-fiction. I'm always looking for debut writers with a great voice, who create memorable characters, and have an ability to tell a page-turning story, whatever the genre. In fiction I represent literary novelists like Rodge Glass, Susan Sellers and Alice Thompson, and historical novelist Sara Sheridan. I'm particularly interested in crime writing by women, and represent Alex Gray and Lin Anderson. I love compelling narrative nonfiction such as Sara Maitland's A BOOK OF SILENCE and Esther Woolfson's account of living with birds, CORVUS. I enjoy memoir too, like the astonishing true story of Mary Turner Thomson's marriage, told in THE BIGAMIST or Willie Robertson's hilarious memoir of growing up in Dundee in the 1960s ON THE MILK.
I like to work closely with writers and meet up regularly, and for this reason am not looking to represent anyone living outside the UK. I'm not looking for stand-alone thrillers, short story collections, misery memoir, mainstream romance, science fiction or adult fantasy.

Like most people who love fiction, it's difficult to succinctly pin down my tastes. I like Austen as much as Irvine Welsh, James Joyce as much as James Patterson. So, please send me anything that can be - in simple terms - branded as literary or commercial fiction. No sci-fi, fantasy, horror or sagas though. I've no expertise in those genres. But I'd like to see just about anything else - historical fiction, crime/thrillers, romantic comedies. If in doubt, please send it my way.
On the non-fiction side I have agented many sport and popular culture titles and would like to do more. I would also love to see more proposals in the areas of popular science, economics and history.

I specialise in writing and illustration for children. I'm looking for writers who can create memorable characters, and a strong story-line, to tempt and enthral even the most reluctant of readers. I would also love to find writers of picture book texts, or ideally illustrators who also write their own stories. I like to be able to meet up with my authors & illustrators, so I'm not looking to represent anyone living outside the UK.
